Important results from the project
The goal of the STACK project (Smart, Attack-Resistant Internet of Things Networks) is to make Internet of Things (IoT) networks and applications maintain their functionality not only under benign circumstances but also in more challenging situations; for example, when IoT networks are under attack or exposed to harsh radio environments and cross-technology interference. Solving these challenges enables a new class of IoT applications that provide a certain Quality of Service (QoS) even under attacks.
Expected long term effects
Today, there are no available solutions and systems that contain attack detection and mitigation for low-power multi-hop networks. To address this, STACK has provided tools, algorithms and system support that will enable researchers and practitioners to realize such systems. Thus, in the long run, STACK will enable more demanding and critical IoT applications than the “best effort” applications that can be deployed today.
Approach and implementation
The STACK project has closely followed the workplan that was outlined in the proposal. The division of the work into the five work packages has shown to be effective. The consortium consisting of partners from three countries has worked efficiently and without very much overhead. The project got positive remarks in all reviews on the managerial topics and in particular the preparation of the reviews.
