Important results from the project

With the widened constellation, the continued project has the right parties to propose a system changing solution; a new type of bike infrastructure that is ecologically, economically and socially sustainable. By submitting applications for funding to future calls from Vinnova and the Swedish Energy Agency, the objectives of the feasibility study have been met.

Expected long term effects

The completed feasibility study has resulted in a widespread constellation that will apply for funding for a three-year RnD project that strives towards the above-mentioned effects. With a full scale RnD project (next step in the process), there are a number of expected results, such as more efficient tools and processes for planning and construction of bike infrastructure, durable design solutions and reduction of climate loads. Overall, they contribute to an infrastructure that is socially sustainable and equitable.

Approach and implementation

The work has focused on contact making in order to connect more parties to the project, but also to test and develop the concept in different contexts. Contact-making has rendered positive feedback. However, the major challenge lies in identifying the right questions and their corresponding mandate, in order to provide for system changing solutions which lead to a realizing the overall vision.
