Important results from the project
Our intention for the pre-study was to continue to adapt and bring Social Impact Award (SIA) to Sweden for 2015. SIA is a student competition, running in 12 different countries in Europe, challenging the young generation to find creative solutions to current local, regional and international social problems. Our goal for the pre-study phase was to map pressing issues in Sweden where new solutions can create significant social impact. Our next step was to identify players that would benefit from new solutions to those issues, and finally explore interested partners for the award.
Expected long term effects
During the five weeks of the project we have identified urgent issues within the social impact scope. We have mapped need owners to these issues and reached out to create partnerships. In order to reach the target audience we have established partnerships with youth and social impact communities linked to universities in Sweden. In collaboration with SIA Europe we have expanded the scope of the competition to include a topic specific European level award. This would result in an award sourcing solutions from 12 European countries on one topic with potential reach of 50 000 people.
Approach and implementation
Based on the learnings in the pre-study we will include a pre-competition campaign on the selected issue to raise awareness. This will stimulate and attract the public and students interested in social change to submit their ideas. The 7-8 workshops will start to focus on the need, before we proceed to teaching how to implement solutions to reach impact. The prize is a grant and 3 months incubation at Impact Hub in Stockholm, in collaboration with partners. In other cities we partner with local incubators to connect the teams to more players in the sector and use the existing resources wisely.
