Important results from the project
The overall goal was to integrate and test verification systems for pharmaceutical packaging ID for secure logistics, including security seal solutions to improve the patient´s confidence in and awareness of secure packaging. The goals were met and all deliverables have been delivered. The project succeeded beyond expectations to create an active forum for dialogue, cooperation, business, and future prospects and solutions. The interactive approach gave the partners the new insight into the entire value chain and clear roles made the project a hotbed for innovative solutions.
Expected long term effects
The results include a large number of demonstrators which were tested with users in different environments thanks to new partner constellations. Growth was created early in the project: partners got new sales and marketing channels and even new business partnerships. Sustainability strategies for different parts of the value chain were identified and include environmental, economic and social aspects. Logistical solutions based on scenarios and suggestions of how to prevent counterfeit medicines in the legal supply chain were developed and evaluated by all partners.
Approach and implementation
The work was divided into work packages and used Project Place. The interactive process catalyzed all workshops, group work and field trips. The emphasis was on consumers and professional users with a focus on strategies for better security seals, lower cost of implementation, and showing what a genuine, sealed package might look like. Scenarios highlighted the challenges in logistics processes and flows. The sustainability analysis included an environmental perspective, a market analysis of pharmaceutical packaging, and social issues, all with a focus on packaging aspects.
