Important results from the project
A city common data factory is ready for the collection of data from the city and for making it available as extensively as possible so that the private sector, citizens, and other public administrations can obtain it in order to develop new AI solutions. A data lab we call Smarter City Lab has been established. The lab consists of both computers to train algorithms and of experts that can assist the city in AI-related topics. These points will help us lay the foundation for coming AI solutions.
Expected long term effects
Helsingborg now has two employees with AI competencies that are spreading knowledge within and outside the city. These two can rapidly and efficiently test AI solutions. This has led to several projects where the goal is to make available and implement AI solutions. Further, the data council has worked out a legal ground when it comes to the collection, utilization, and sharing of data. This is important for AI and smart cities. We will take in student interns, and we cooperate with the energy sector and other sectors relating to AI and smart cities.
Approach and implementation
The realization has not gone by the original plan. Much focus has been on legal data matters and these matters were elevated to a higher level within the municipality. However, the work surrounding ethics has just begun. Smarter City Lab has contributed to some parts within the project now have been lifted out and is now led at a city common level for the work to become more long term. We have been formalizing things related to reading the data to our data factory. All parts of this project are planned to be put in production during Q1 2022.
