Important results from the project

The project has fulfilled its purpose through market dialogue and development of eligibility requirements for the procurement of a new solution for collection of household hazardous waste in Stockholm. The recommendation is to carry out a Request for information (RFI) or a procurement with a negotiated procedure, with the ultimate goal of finding a reliable and cost-effective technical solution to increase the availability for residents to leave hazardous waste without the need for a car.

Expected long term effects

When the new solution is in operation it will be possible to see the results and effects. If a cost-effective solution is procured, there will be more collection points in the city, a higher availability and possibly an increased awareness, an increased amount of collected waste and a reduced number of vehicle transports. Further effects with the new type of collection point is reduced risk of incorrect sorted waste, reduced need for repairs and increased service and safety for users and collection staff.

Approach and implementation

The implementation of the project has involved compiling and validating eligibility requirements based on previously completed investigations, harmonizing the requirements against the suppliers´ existing technical solutions and creating interest from these suppliers in offering a solution that can be used in the city of Stockholm.
