Coordinator Orexplore AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 2 950 000
Project duration August 2018 - December 2021
Status Completed
Venture The strategic innovation programme Electronic Components and Systems:

Important results from the project

The goal of designing and developing an analog ASIC for a multichannel spectrometer for X-ray spectroscopy, for application in an analysis machine for mineral samples has been achieved. In addition, further steps have been taken to get the ASIC adapted for volume production through, in addition to the intended dialogue, also increased collaboration with the Fraunhofer - the IIS Institute.

Expected long term effects

Orexplore has increased its ability to address new market segments in mineral analysis with new products. Grepit has broadened its expertise in advanced data processing, cryo- and measurement technology, FPGA design and signal processing, which has led to additional contracts and products in these areas. LTU has during the project strengthened its competence in the area and expanded its understanding of and knowledge about the commercialization of research results within the area of integrated circuits.

Approach and implementation

The division and implementation of the project work between the parties was broadly: - Orexplore: Final installation in product, overall system integration - Grepit AB: Evaluation of electronics systems, integration of subsystems - LTU: Development of electronics This has worked well, and the communication between parties have been good. During the second half of the project, the Fraunhofer Institute in Germany was tied more closely to ensure also commercial access to developed solutions, thereby establishing a long-term relationship for the participating companies.
