Important results from the project

Agenda2030 is the basis for the work, an innovation education for municipalities has been developed. Meeting places increase the likelihood of meetings between actors with the same interest but complementary driving forces and possible strategic partnerships, e.g. BY2030 is one for sustainable built environment for increased regional attractiveness. Creation of MSc education, PhD school and arena for meetings between business and students have been supported for academic excellence. Open innovation has inspired new projects, several about digitization.

Expected long term effects

SHS has become a well-known node for collaboration that connects stakeholders for the wood-building and flat-glass industry regionally, nationally and also internationally. Common needs are identified, ideas are initiated, actors are linked and constellations are strengthened. Activities have contributed to reduced competition, increased confidence and collaboration across organizational and industry boundaries. The academy´s presence in business has increased and new collaborations have been created. Interesting results and knowledge have given rise to new projects.

Approach and implementation

The focus areas of the initiative are construction, housing and digitization. The tools are pilot studies and seed funding, test beds / prototypes, meeting places, thematic groups, open innovation, degree projects. The tools provide faster initiation and more R&D projects, collaboration and innovations. The funding has provided awareness, open innovation, results and prototypes that have generated interest and new projects. Meeting places have initiated collaboration and disseminated knowledge. The innovation process has been described to clarify the role of the initiative.
