Important results from the project

The goal and purpose of SCL was to build up the technical & organizational capabilities & prerequisites needed in a city to be able to collect and make data available in a secure and controlled way. SCL have acted as the cities’ support function with activities such as experience sharing, knowledge dissemination, targeted efforts, and lobbying activities. Many new projects were spun off and SCL became the core of a larger portfolio, and took an increasingly orchestrating role in the ecosystem.

Expected long term effects

Impact goals from the project´s impact logic: - Swedish cities are among the leaders in Europe in "smart city" - There is a thriving ecosystem of suppliers who clearly understand the requirements of the cities - Swedish suppliers are competitive in the EU because Sweden was an early adopter of the EU´s principles - Swedish cities use data-driven solutions as an integrated part of their climate work and all other activities The cities are well on their way to achieving these impacts.

Approach and implementation

The core of the project was the sharing of experiences through monthly meetings and thematic networks. A targeted effort with Strängnäs municipality identified and exemplified the organizational challenges around data management. Several projects were spun off and SCL became the centre in a larger project portfolio. More actors in the ecosystem were involved, and SCL took an increasingly orchestrating role.
