Important results from the project
The overall aim of the project is to exploit the possibilities of digitalisation and create new innovative solutions based on emerging technologies for smart body-close technologies with potential to significantly improve safety and health in the process industry. The aim of the project was to investigate potential technologies and their applicability in the process industry, and to develop a complete basis for a larger continuation project - including the identification of project partners. This objective has been met and a proposal for a continuation projects will be submitted.
Expected long term effects
The project has been a feasibility study where the idea was to explore the potential of the project idea and the possibility of realizing it in a larger future RnD project. The project idea has been successfully investigated by testing and evaluating smart wearable technology in the process industry and jointly plans for a future RnD project have been developed and a proposal for a continuation project will be submitted to the PiiA call "PiiA: Digitalisering av industriella värdekedjor, våren 2020".
Approach and implementation
The project has involved three actors each representing different perspectives: process industry - ABB, technology supplier - Wavr and research - University of Skövde. The actors have had complementary skills that very well matched the project´s needs. The collaboration between the three the actors has worked very well, and all three are now jointly embarking on a major continuation project. The project work has been divided into 10 smaller activities, which were carried out according to the set schedule. Dividing the work in this way has made it easy to continuously follow up the work.
