Important results from the project

The Smart&Safe project explored whether IoT solutions can increase perceived security, working consistently with its target group. By uniting actors from the public sector, private companies, and civil society, it created a co-creation platform that provided key insights for future security solutions. The project also established networks, legal guidelines, and a model for secure data sharing – a solid foundation for continued innovation in security.

Expected long term effects

In the long term, insights from the Smart&Safe project can enhance security in public spaces by using IoT solutions as tools for safety. Cross-sector cooperation and a model for secure data sharing create a sustainable foundation for collaboration between public actors, businesses, and civil society. The project also demonstrates how urban spaces can serve as an innovation arena, supporting future tests of tailored security solutions and inspiring similar approaches elsewhere.

Approach and implementation

Smart&Safe focused on co-creating and testing IoT security solutions, involving the target group and actors from the public sector, companies, and civil society in development and evaluation. Through workshops and practical urban tests, the technology was adapted based on user feedback. The project largely followed its plan and timeline, with adjustments to better meet the target group’s needs. Season and technical issues affected some tests but flexibility ensured valuable insights were gained.
