Important results from the project
The project´s aim was to identify inefficient processes for assessments of skin conditions in Swedish primary care. The project indicates that private and public health care providers have great potential to increase care quality, improve workflows, and lower costs by improving skin-related care journeys. Areas with the greatest potential for improvement include anamnesis, increased accessibility, automated decision support, and referral patient and clinician journeys. The project is expected to contribute to further service development within the company.
Expected long term effects
The project generated an increased understanding of both users and technical eligibility requirements for further implementation. Great potential for improving skin assessment care journeys within Swedish primary care exists, and remains to be put into practice. Further product development and implementation in clinical environments can improve care for patients with skin-related problems, increase accessibility in primary care, and lower costs for care providers and regions.
Approach and implementation
During the project, extensive work was carried out to investigate finances for care centers, gather relevant patient and care statistics, and map work flows for treating care staff and patients. The research conducted was both qualitative via interviews, and quantitative via open data sources research. Internally, the project proved an opportunity to effectively acquire new knowledge about the market, patients and doctors, and translate these insights into adjustments to the current technology platform and the company´s commercial plan.
