Purpose and goal

LIGHTer Acdemy is a network within SIP LIGHTer that aims to bring together industry, institute and academy researchers with complementary skills. Through various efforts, we try to coordinate, inspire and benefit from each other in order to achieve greater technological leaps in the Lightweight area. The goal is a sustainable research network as a complement to LIGHTer´s other activities and as a basis for achieving the goals in the Lightweight Agenda.

Expected effects and result

LIGHTer Academy strives to build new knowledge in the lightweight area. We carry out preliminary studies in collaboration between industry, institutes and academia. We then seek project funds to deepen the work in areas that show great potential and we publish the work in open technical journals to ensure that the development is made available to the whole of lightweight Sweden. Our effectiveness is measured in the number of publications and new projects. We see that cooperation between academia and industry is a key to efficient competence transfer.

Planned approach and implementation

During the upcoming project phase, we plan to continue our basic work to produce new knowledge within the lightweight area. The work will take place in spontaneously created subgroups based on jointly defined needs, skills or as results from idea generation. Our big joint mission for the phase is to find forms to develop a continuation for the best parts of LIGHTer Academy in a different context than SIP LIGHTer. In October, for example, we will meet with WIRA (WISE) to discuss possible cooperation.
