Important results from the project
An overall goal for the project was to show how manufacturing companies can benefit from using the STEP-NC standard, along with concepts for Industry 4.0 and other developments. This goal has been achieved and all work packages in the project have been completed. One goal was to commercialize project results and such an activity has been initiated.
Expected long term effects
The project demonstrated IoT functionality to get rich information from CNC machine tools and geometric measuring instruments such as coordinate measurement machines (CMM) for efficient decision making in advanced retail manufacturing. The project has shown how international standards such as STEP-NC, ISO 13399 can be used to support design principles for Industrie 4.0.
Approach and implementation
The project was organized in seven work packages: WP1, Setting up basic LISA architecture WP2, Technological framework WP3, Manufacturing (CNC machining) tracing based on STEP-NC WP4, Quality (product characteristic measurement) tracing based on STEP-NC WP5, Manufacturing tracing demonstrator in an operating environment WP6, Quality tracing demonstrator in an operating environment WP7, Coordination, dissemination and exploitation During the project eight creative workshops have been held.
