Important results from the project

The Sharing Futures strategic project worked with exploring scenarios and pathways for the sharing economy in cities looking forwards to 2030. It involved collaborations across the test-beds in Sharing Cities Sweden in Malmö, Stockholm, Gothenburg and Umeå as well as with the innovation teams being developed in the cities as part of the Climate Neutral Cities 2030 initiative by Viable Cities. It therefore formed an important bridge between Sharing Cities Sweden and Viable Cities.

Expected long term effects

The Sharing Futures strategic project was impacted by the pandemic and related restrictions in terms of the timing of events and the shift from physical to virtual events. However, we organised two online workshops in spring 2020 as well as three major events in autumn 2020 and published a report entitled “The Future of Sharing” that syntheses key insights and findings. We also participated in the Sharing Cities Global Forum (hosted by the City of Seoul and Shareable).

Approach and implementation

Six online events formed the foundations of the Sharing Futures strategic project. These included: Sharing Futures Webinar Sharing Regions; Sharing Futures Webinar Sharing Towns; Sharing Futures Webinar with Viable Cities Hur kan delningsekonomi bidra till klimatneutrala och hållbara städer?; City Futures Summit; Sharing Futures Roundtable with Sharing Cities Alliance Sharing Cities and Shaping Tomorrow; and the Sharing Cities Global Forum.
