Venture Challenge-Driven Innovation – Stage 1 initiation

Important results from the project

According to the purpose of the project; the work to develop symbiotic concepts through cooperation is now initiated which will show the way towards a green and circular economy. One of the aims of this first step has been to identify which activities that can lead the way in such a development. Another has been to expand the project partner group, and the result of that is that we now are 12 project partners. It is also agreed that in the first phase the focus will be to start a cooperation regarding energy, and to test innovative applications connected to different qualities of surplus energy.

Expected long term effects

The 12 project partners aim to exploit an increased amount of surplus energy through a smarter heat grid that in a better way can handle variations in temperature from the different sources, and that also is able to deliver customized heat products. The project also aims to explore new applications for surplus energy at different temperatures, where as an example production of food is one that can lay the foundation for a new type of industry in Sweden. This is to be developed in an open process between the project partners which will enable further cooperation´s in the future.

Approach and implementation

During the initial phase the project partners have mapped flows connected to certain industries, and where the businesses see a need for a better cooperation to attain a more efficient use of resources. Through network meetings, workshops and bilateral meetings we have agreed that it is within the energy field we see the most urgent need, but that also have the highest potential to develop further. A clear focus during the process has been to plan and form activities that both support the areas overall aims, but also leads to an added value for each project parts business.
