Important results from the project

The goal and purpose of SENSATION III was to further develop, robustify and deliver "innovative online sensor solutions and services for safe and resource-efficient water management; with a focus on crude water, drinking water networks and industrial process water. Documentation has been produced and pre-commercial prototypes of six different sensors have been manufactured. DosModel (service) has been implemented in different water plants.

Expected long term effects

Pre-commercial prototypes have been manufactured from six different sensor systems, including four for water plants and two for industrial process water. The systems have been tested in labs and in-field with varying results. The SCGD (plasma sensor) has shown such a positive result that SSAB is interested in purchasing an instrument. Using the DosModel has resulted in an increase in water quality in the water plants by 75%. This provides a safer drinking water production and an opportunity to reduce the consumption of chemicals by up to 8%.

Approach and implementation

The project consortium has met three times during the project, and the project partners have worked together in different constellations with prototype- and service development, business models and field tests, which has been considered good. Important to include the water plants in the field testing. One insight is that it will be more about selling services than off-the-shelf products. Commercialization of project results will take place at several different levels both at system level and for individual sensor solutions, or as services per se.
