Important results from the project
Automated vehicles for passenger transport have been tested in the project. Shuttles have been tested in public areas and city buses have been tested and evaluated in a bus depot runs and for bus stop docking. The project has tested new services for shared cars, as well as carried out significant work to clarify regulations and the need to change policy to enable sharing. Technical development of connected traffic signals has also been carried out and clarified how communication between different actors in the system can be solved.
Expected long term effects
Knowledge of possible applications for automated vehicles in city traffic, shared cars and policy to enable a transition has been a clear contribution in the project. The project has also clarified technical requirements and challenges that exist to implement automated vehicles, both in terms of the vehicles themselves and the infrastructure.
Approach and implementation
The project focus has been on testing and demonstration. Challenges when it comes to technical maturity, traffic safety and regulation have prevented some tests from being carried out. Instead, more focus has been placed on investigating these in order to progress in the work. Examples are policy investigations and improved testing of complex traffic situations.
