Important results from the project
The main purpose of the project was to develop, test and evaluate methods, tools and programs to:generate an increased number of high-quality scalable impact startups that help solve some of the most pressing global challenges, using the Sustainable Development Goals as a framework. The project decided to focus on SDG 13 - Climate Action, and taking a challenge drive approach with 13 Climate Challenges presented by 13 high-profile Climate Champions. The approach proved very effective to fulfill the purpose and will be repeated.
Expected long term effects
The expected result was to find new ways to effectively generate and support impact startups that bring solutions to the SDGs. The main KPI being the number of promising startup embryos created. The challenge-driven approach in three phases using a world-leading digital plattform for innovation challenges proved highly effective. More than 10 times as many ideas and startup teams than expected were generated. The project also developed a framework for impact assessment and measurement.
Approach and implementation
The approach to generate Climate Action startups consisted of 3 phases: Phase 1: Ideation. Open Innovation Challenge to generate ideas and form teams. Phase 2: Deepdive.
