Important results from the project
This project was initiated as an extension of a VINNOVA funded milieu (dnr 2009-00239), and has been focused on the further development together with AstraZeneca of one of the patent applied methods that emerged from the milieu, aimed at improving the drug discovery process. Besides evaluation by industrial partners of newly developed methodologies, the aim of the project was also to evaluate the commercial potential of the patents generated in the milieu and owned by GSD AB, founded by the academic partners of the project.
Expected long term effects
Entitled, ´Development, implementation and application of a highly-innovative single-molecule detection platform for drug discovery.´, our joint work was in strong competition nominated and then even awarded the 2015 i-MED Science Award, at AstraZeneca. Private equity of 500 kSEK has been created to form the company and take care of the intangible rights, mainly in the form of patent applications, to be transferred to the new company during spring 2016. The result of the project forms one pillar in a proposal submitted to the 2016 SSF call for Industrial Research Centres.
