Important results from the project

As intangible assets today comprise about 50-80% of a company’s market value it is important to gain insight into and control over current assets and how they contribute to the value of the business. An IP strategy aligned with the overall business plan allows such insight and facilitates maximizing financial return and support of the company’s development. The objective of this project was: 1) To align Sally R´s BP and IP Strategy 2) Define action plan to ensure what needs to done for better alignment 3) Get recommendations about the ways to take the necessary actions

Expected long term effects

Results: 1. Clear insight into identified intellectual assets. 2. Assessment on the current situation in regard of value and control of each asset. 3. Recommended actions to increase Control/value of specific assets. 4. Increased insight into opportunities for the company to continue working with its intangible assets.

Approach and implementation

An asset insight analysis was performed by going through SALLY R´s patent families, brand, key relations and agreements and data based assets. It followed by competitive intelligence and landscape analysis was performed, which was the analysis on patent families for possible competitors and their geographical spread. Then Sally R was recommended to take actions to improve its IP portfolio and commercialization opportunities through publishing potential patents, access to necessary technologies through patent licenses. In addition to have control of know-how and trade secrets.
