Important results from the project

This project had 3 objectives that was set to achieve. 1) Using specific extraction method & process for various byproducts from agriculture to extract nutraceuticals & bioactive compound of these byproducts at the highest level (it started with Avocado seeds) 2) to reduce water content of the extracted liquids from these byproducts or basically concentrate them while they still keep the same nutritional values. 3) to use these concentrates in a smaller packaging, so they are easier for transportation with less CO2e and there were specifically targeted for travel retails & airports.

Expected long term effects

the result were somewhat positive. what it means is, we have managed to achieve goal 1 and 2 with positive outcome we expected. the process/method to use different byproducts were successfully achieved ( goal 1) and concentration process was successful (goal 2) but we fail on goal 3 because the target market we aimed for was not a correct market even though we did an study on it. we have designed a product for trave retail such as airport and we didn´t sell anything there but we got attraction from Reitan Group in retail (B2C) and interest from B2B such as Absolute home & Lantmännen.

Approach and implementation

The final analysis and learning process was that, it is not always good to be first, e.g. the packaging we designed for travel retail was the first in Sweden, but it did not translate into sales, but it allowed us to move more towards B2B in a positive way. We also managed to establish a process/method that has become a blueprint for using various by-products from the juice industry, extra harvest from farmers, spent-grains (drav), distilling dregs (drank) which helped us file an application IP for our process as we will hopefully officially register this application in December 2023.
