Purpose and goal

The purpose and goal of this project is to improve the reading of VIDEMs SAR-sensor by exploring and developing the optimal surface modification. Today, the SAR sensor has a thin gold layer to which oligonucleotides with ten ends bind. The gold-thiol bond is a very strong/specific bond, in this project we want to optimize the amount of oligos that bind to the sensor surface that would lead to optimal hybridization to the target oligonucleotides.

Expected effects and result

Expected results of the project is that VIDEM has gained a greater understanding and knowledge of how the sensor surface can be covered in an optimal way to improve the reading of low concentrations of DNA. The effect of this is that VIDEM´s sensors can be better, which will lead to diseases at a lower concentration being detected.

Planned approach and implementation

The project will be implemented in three work packages: AP1 Literature study, AP2 Tillverkning and AP3 Testning & Validating. Which will last for 6 months when MSCA Fellown will be with VIDEM. During the course of the project, continuous feedback and assistance will take place to maximize the likelihood that MSCA Fellown will succeed in securing employment at the end of the project.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
