Reference number
Coordinator RISE Research Institutes of Sweden AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 800 000
Project duration October 2022 - April 2023
Status Completed
Venture The strategic innovation programme for Production2030

Important results from the project

The aim of the project was to enable increased use of recycled material in polymer components and to enable the design and manufacture of new components that match existing products. The objective of the feasibility study was to define the scope and approach and to identify and establish the project consortium for a subsequent full-scale research project. The objective was met by formulating an application for a stage 2 project and submitting it to Vinnova.

Expected long term effects

The expected result of the feasibility study was the basis and commitment for a full-scale research project. Expected effects of the full-scale project are that it will be possible define requirements for interior polymer component surfaces for the automotive industry that are attractive and at the same time can be manufactured using a large part of recycled material.

Approach and implementation

The work in the feasibility study was divided into two work packages: WP1: Challenges and potential. Selected research areas would be explored through literature reviews and discussions with current and potential future project partners during workshops. WP2: Preparation for step 2. Definition of scope and approach for a full research project and identification and establishment of project consortium. The work in the feasibility study started according to plan, but the plan had to be revised after the prerequisites and requirements for the stage 2 project were clarified.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
