Important results from the project
The purpose of the project was to develop and construct a robot for automatic road marking of symbols. The equipment was going to be mounted on a vehicle. The goal was to make a prototype for field tests together with a road marking contractor. We have fulfilled all these goals and we have a prototype ready for field tests.
Expected long term effects
The expected result was to have prototype with good enough functionality so it can be used on the road. We have today a prototype with the capacity to make most of the desired symbols.
Approach and implementation
The development work has followed an established method. First requirement specification and design document was produced. Then the detailed development work started in the form of making drawings and developing software. Thereafter material was ordered. The main part of the project concisted of software development. We have also designed and put together the mechanical Construction, the power supply and the electical hardware to a functional robot. Then testing begun, first subsystem testing and then the whole system. Finaly the system was mounted on a truck and tested.
