Important results from the project
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The aim was to implement advanced X-ray techniques to characterize the nano-structure in solid pharmaceutical preparations. Specifically, we have studied solid dispersions with amorphous active substance. Within the framework of the project, we have together carried out two experiments on the instrument cSAXS at PSI in Switzerland and were able to directly demonstrate the usefulness of these techniques for formulation development.
Expected long term effects
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** With the two experiments, we have been able to image the material on an nm length scale and understand the connection between process method and structure as well as the physical mechanism that leads to this structure. We have also been able to identify where there are crystalline domains, ie where the stability of the amorphous phase is lower.
Approach and implementation
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** To meet the project goals, we have conducted two experiments within the project. Experiment time was granted via open call for proposals at Swiss Light Source, Paul Scherrer Institute, Switzerland. A joint team from industry and academia has planned, prepared, conducted experiments and analyzed the results. Project meetings have taken place at least every month where we have discussed the structure and action plan.
