Purpose and goal

Until spring 2025, LTU will create better processes to be able to handle issues related to responsible internationalisation. Aim of the project is to investigate how such processes should be created - the goal is to create pragmatic processes that will work in the future. Since April 2024, LTU has decided on two process managers who will drive the process. There is an internal reference group, and all is reported to the Strategic Council on Internationalisation. Desirable results of the project are a catalog of lessons learned and dissemination of such lessons internally and externally.

Expected effects and result

Improving the critical thinking of all staff in matters related to responsible internationalisation will be the main effect of the process. We live in a highly politicised world, and although universities are autonomous, no university is immune to the political forces that affect our work. It is important for our staff to feel safe in order to carry out their mission and that is why we create processes that will minimise the risks.

Planned approach and implementation

We plan to carry out some trips to our partners for educational purposes. Internally, we discuss the best arrangement for a pragmatic process that will provide good support to our employees. With limited resources and often limited information when it comes to the depth of international activities, it is extremely important to educate your staff about situations when they need to seek additional assistance from someone else in the organisation. Therefore, we are also planning major information initiatives at each department.
