Important results from the project

Overall goal for the travel is to recruit members and plan for a FET Open 2018-20 application, with SciProof International AB as project manager. Specific goals include site visits and project discussions at CNR-IREA, Naples, (Drs. M.R. Scarfi and L. Crocco) to plan biological studies (real-time exposure and live-cell imaging) and exposure conditions; Univ Campania (Prof. L. Zeni) to discuss engineering aspects of exponential installation, probe development, and instrument design.

Expected long term effects

The visits have led to -pilot experiments with real-time live-cell imaging investigation of magnetic field effects on cells - identification and establishment of contact with still another potential Italian project partner (Univ. of L´Aquila) - decision on and outline of a project application (Italian funding) - decision on preparation of the application for the H2020 FET Open - preparation of a Memorandum of Understanding between SciProof International AB and CNR-IREA concerning research and development work.

Approach and implementation

Already contacted institutions and individuals were visited, where laboratories and relevant equipment were presented. Furthermore, a number of mutual presentations of experiences and ideas were conducted. Upon request, we also established video-based contact and conducted virtual meetings with another potential partner. The purpose of these meetings was to lay the foundation for future research collaboration and joint media applications. The work was carried out according to plan and furthermore produced additional results that were not expected.
