Important results from the project
During 2021/2022, a new strategic research and innovation agenda for the Swedish mining and metal producing industry has been developed. The aim was to present the challenges, vision and objectives of the mining and metal industry and to present the research and innovation required to achieve these goals. The agenda has been developed and anchored with its stakeholders through several open workshops with participants from industry, andacademia, research institutes and authorities. The agenda was launched on May 12, 2022 under Swedish Mining Research and Innovation Day.
Expected long term effects
With a new updated R&D agenda for the Swedish mining and metal producing industry, the industry, academia and authorities have now agreed on a joint roadmap to meet challenges and achieve the set objectives. Through several workshops, the actors have agreed on what research- and innovation will be required in the long and short term. The new roadmap is expected to guide academia and industry and result in joint research initiatives. The R & I agenda will also form the basis for advocacy work nationally and internationally to ensure that research needs are met.
Approach and implementation
Knowledge acquisition for the R & I agenda was obtained through a high-level meeting followed by open workshops in the areas of exploration, mineral processing, mining, metallurgy and recycling, attractive workplaces, gender and diversity, mining and society and permitting. Paues Åberg Communications has been project manager and editor. Svemin´s FoI-committee has acted as a steering group and the Swedish Mining Innovations working committee has also read and commented on drafts. The agenda was launched on May 12 under Swedish Mining Research and Innovation Day.
