Important results from the project
Our goal with this project was to establish Sweden´s first ReMakeSpace in Lund, with the aim to investigate how different maker tool can be used to create new and innovative ways to give new life to the clothes, gadgets and furniture we receive. Together with the Lunds Öppna Verkstad, we have established a ReMakeSpace in Lund. As part of the project we held 10 workshops focused on how to reuse various materials such as ceramics, electronics, plastics and furniture.
Expected long term effects
Expected short-term effects we will expand our remake activities in Lessebo and Sibbhult from just sewing. To achieve this goal we held a contest which resulted in a series of 20 upcycling / remake designs licenced under Creative Commons. In 2017 our plan is to expand the concept to other municipalities where our partner Radix Kompetens have cooperations with local employment agencies (arbetsförmedlingar).
Approach and implementation
The plan was to purchase equipment at the beginning of 2016, hold all remake / upcycling workshops before October 2016 and hold the remake competition late in October with the aim of encouraging the creation of a upcycling / remake series of products licensed under the Creative Commons which could be replicated by others. We managed to achieve all of these objectives, but the competition was offset by 1 month. However this did not affect the outcome of the project.
