Important results from the project

The purpose is to find out if there are effects from road environment to carbon fibre composites. We have found that there are effects on the composite due to the road environment. We are closer to the project idea after this project. We have not worked with the guide line for galvanic protection since this part was excluded after the budget cut.

Expected long term effects

The reuslt is that some composite matrix systems are more sensitive to road environment than others. The effects are that you need to be careful when selecting matrix system for the compsoite and consider protective measures for the carbon fibre composite in road environment. The results are in accordance with our expectations and what we suspected. The results are however in conflict with what is the general opinion concerning carbon fibre composites in an road environment

Approach and implementation

The project is divided into workpackages, there is a time schedule and an action log to push the project forward. One analysis is that there is not enough statistic data for some analysis and in particular for the correlations between field and accelerated exposure
