Important results from the project
The project has identified strong research groups at universities and research institutes around the world in the field of material recycling, focusing on inorganics, metals, plastics and recycling technologies. Information about the research groups have been compiled in a database and published on a website. Assessing the scientific level of the contacts was challenging and the number of publications and participation in EU-funded projects has served as guidelines. A systemized assessment strategy would be a useful next step in developing the database and the website.
Expected long term effects
The project results are compiled in the Recycling Research Website where users may search strong research groups within a certain field of materials recycling. The website provides basic information about the research groups, web addresses as well as contact information. The search may be done on a group of materials, a technology or consumer materials. The website is expected to facilitate research collaboration within material recycling and provide a tool for companies, institutes and universities searching research partners.
Approach and implementation
The project has identified researchers active within material recycling, focusing on inorganics, metals, plastics and recycling technologies. Identification has been based on the participating researchers´ personal knowledge as well as experiences, researcher participation in EU-funded projects, publications and participation in conferences. To make the information public and available, it has been added to the Recycling Research website that aims to be a powerful tool for companies, institutes and universities searching for project partners.
