Important results from the project

In the project, we have further developed the recipes to qualify for cardboard return. The products were evaluated for pilot-scale granulation, in full-scale molding equipment at the EPS factory in Lindesberg, and with regard to recycling at Fiskeby bruk. We have now learned what is required for our products to be recyclable in the cardboard return and we have a clear plan for how we will get there. This is a very important step for acceptance and for the development of the business.

Expected long term effects

We are in the starting blocks to take the leap into reality, build a factory in Lindesberg and evaluate the first product with customers. In the long run, we hope to offer bio-based, biodegradable alternatives to Styrofoam, which can be recycled in the cardboard return. The business will target global markets within the packaging and construction segments. We hope to drastically reduce plastic littering and CO2-emisions. We build a new market for paper pulp, including recycled pulp.

Approach and implementation

The project ran as planned up until the evaluation at Fiskeby. There we learned that our material had to be dried with a different technique to be fully recyclable. We extended the project time-line with two months to allow time to evaluate new drying technology at the supplier. The project must be summed up as very successful as we were able to clarify what affects return handling and found a clear way forward.
