Important results from the project
The purpose of the application was to investigate whether innovation competition is an appropriate format to develop a concept for a recycling center in dense inner city. The goal of applying for funding to implement an innovation competition has not been reached.
Expected long term effects
With the knowledge and information that the City of Stockholm has available the innovation competition was not a suitable format to reach the goal. The working group decided to investigate the possibility to apply for funding for an innovation procurement process. An application was submitted and has been approved by Vinnova
Approach and implementation
The planning of the innovation competition was made in a working group consisting of representatives (technical staff and procurement experts) from the technical administrations. A couple of workshops were held with the working group and it was agreed then that the format was not appropriate. To reach the defined targets it is important that the working group is composed of individuals with the right skills but also to have a facilitator who can guide the work by being able to ask the right questions and drive the process.
