Important results from the project
The goal was to realize a test bed in the form of a test track for rail vehicles and railway equipment on the railway between Jörn and Arvidsjaur. This first phase was intended to secure a business model incl. financing solution for the entire test bed. We have developed a business model and secured the private part of the financing. Regarding the governmental part , discussions are underway with the Ministry of solutions.
Expected long term effects
Expected impact of the test bed is to strengthen the competitiveness of the railways to shift more traffic from road to rail. In this way, the transport sector´s carbon footprint is reduced . Furthermore , the test bed will give exports and create jobs in areas with high unemployment.
Approach and implementation
We have had a setup where we worked in parallel with: -Political Process . We have always worked closely with local and regional politicians , Universities, tågköpare , Sami communities , forest owners , etc. - Customers . Europe´s three largest train manufacturers have helped us with the design of the test track and assessment of testing scope and volume. - Technical basis. We have put a lot of resources to ensure that calculations etc. are correct. Throughout the project, we have had a good support from Vinnova. This has been very good way to run this type of project.
