Important results from the project

The long-term goal of the project was to build knowledge and a platform for drone-based radio reconnaissance in search and rescue. The goal was also to demonstrate a drone-based radio reconnaissance module and management system to support the search for missing persons within the project. In addition to the demonstration, information was disseminated to potential users of the platform via workshops and conference presentations.

Expected long term effects

The project has led to increased knowledge in drone-based radio reconnaissance in general, and WiFi-based radio reconnaissance specifically, for all project parties. The platform that has been developed is already used in degree projects in collaboration with business and authorities and will also form the basis for further research in the area. The project has good potential to eventually improve methods and decision support for searching for missing persons.

Approach and implementation

A large part of the project time has been spent on the development and testing of the hardware and software that constitutes the platform for drone-based radio reconnaissance for searching of missing persons. The project´s planned workshops have been carried out with the committed participation of all project parties and the demonstration could be carried out according to plan in October. The pandemic has put a stop to a large part of the planned travel in the project, and that budget has been used to develop the platform instead.
