Important results from the project
The purpose of the project has been to develop a functional prototype for a training aid for pilots to train their radio communication skills. The goal has also been to validate the market for such a product and choose appropriate business model. At the end of the project, all goals set fourth in the initial project plan have been met.
Expected long term effects
The company has been able to validate the need through interviews with both flight instructors, pilots, air traffic controllers and aspiring pilots (students at flight academy). The company has also decided on a business model and prepared a go to market strategy. The company is currently on the second iteration of the prototype and is now focusing on the next phase where evaluation of the prototype is carried out together with pilots, flight instructors and air traffic controllers (ATC).
Approach and implementation
The company has been able to follow the project plan quite well. What deviated somewhat from the plan is the time to develop the functional prototype where some unforeseen challenges have contributed to this part of the project taking considerably more time and resources than planned. Overall, however, the company has been able to deliver all deliverables in the project as well as staying within budget through a reallocation of time and resources in the project.
