Important results from the project
During the project, BTH participated in the development of the QuEEN agent for Quality of Experience (QoE) analysis. BTH contributed to new QoE models, based on fundamental research in time-related QoE disturbances, and installed measurement points at several Swedish project partners (Telenor, Ericsson, info24). BTH had discussions with the latter about Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and how these affect their services, systems, pricing and contact with their customers.
Expected long term effects
Due to the QuEEN cooperation, Info24 has redesigned its IoT platform of services for the inclusion of QoE and improvement of SLA management. New QoE-related insights, estimates, methods and models have been developed. Unfortunately, payment strategies were abandoned as Ericsson left the project. QuEEN contributed to the KKS profile ´BigData@BTH´, amongst others via the measurement points at Telenor, and enabled direct funding by Telecom Italia. QuEEN has led to a licentiate exam and a doctoral thesis (to be defended in Spring 2015), as well as to several workshops and seminars.
Approach and implementation
BTH acted as coordinator for the Swedish consortium. Unfortunately, Ericsson left the project at halftime, but BTH managed to attract Telenor in their place. The second project plenary meeting was held in Karlskrona in May 2012. Through the project, BTH worked closely with Info24, Acreo, Telenor, Ericsson, Orange (F), VTT (FI), iMINDs (B) and University of Aragon (SP). A doctoral student activities were co-financed by QuEEN, who also conducted the Queen demonstrator at the CELTIC conference in Kayseri, March 2013.
