Important results from the project
The purpose of the project was to create a platform for self-control for both design and production in construction projects. These self-checks are usually kept separate from each other, which leads to virtually non-existent feedback of experience from production to design. The platform enables cross-border communication as all actors have the opportunity to create collaborations through self-control. This can be done, for example, by building "experience loops" or processes that other users can also be a part of.
Expected long term effects
The result of the project was expected to be used in construction projects immediately after the end of the project. The primary users of the service are designers and contractors who need to carry out self-inspections for their own work. The platform is launched and available for use in construction projects. The expectations of the project were to develop a service that was user-friendly, easy to use with functionality for creating, performing, and sharing self-controls.
Approach and implementation
The approach to the project was based on first reviewing existing research and reports in the field and developing an understanding of the underlying challenges. Furthermore, this was verified through conversations with potential users. An evaluation was also made on how machine learning and blockchain can facilitate, simplify, and create transparency in the construction process. Gamification was evaluated as a method to create engagement and interest among users. The web application was developed based on a requirements specification that gradually emerged during the project.
