Important results from the project
The project achieved its goal of developing a digital solution where claims are redirected to local service providers for repair, instead of returning. The solution got positive feedback regarding function and user experience from e-retailers, service providers and consumers. A life cycle analysis demonstrated major environmental benefits like reducing the climate impact by up to 80% compared to repairs. New collaborations and team reinforcements have also strengthened the project´s potential.
Expected long term effects
The project´s ambition is to reduce the number of claims that are returned with 50% and ensure they are repaired locally instead, which would result in major environmental gains. Furthermore, e-retailers can lower their costs for administration and logistics, and we can create new jobs in the service sector in Sweden. Our vision is that the Qfix platform will make local tailors and cobblers the hub of the circular transformation of the textile industry by offering more sustainable alternatives.
Approach and implementation
To develop the technical platform, the project began with a analysis to understand the needs of all stakeholders, i.e. e-retailers, service providers and consumers. In parallel with the development, the solution has then continuously been evaluated and further developed to meet customer needs. Linköping University evaluated the environmental impact through an initial literature study and then a life cycle analysis that demonstrated a large reduction in environmental impact through the solution.
