Project duration January 2018 - October 2018
Status Completed

Important results from the project

The aim of the project was to test and evaluate new production concepts for carbon-fiber geometry-proofing equipment. The purpose was also to create and verify a partially new subcontractor network that through the project activities could test and develop own technology solutions for its part in the production chain. The project has been running according to plan and the goal has been met.

Expected long term effects

The designed and manufactured demonstrator can be compared to size and complexity with a real product. The results indicate good technical performance and reduced costs and lead times compared with previous production concepts. The subcontractors who participated in the project have contributed with their own technology solutions for their part in the production chain and through the manufactured test body have verified both costs and technology solutions and thus have both cost estimates and technology solutions to be part of a subcontractor network for future production.

Approach and implementation

The original plan of the project was to produce two scaled-down specimens, which together contained frequent challenges regarding tolerance chain, mechanical performance and weight. Instead, it was chosen to manufacture a plurality of smaller specimens where different technology solutions were tested separately. Subsequently, a more complex test body was designed and manufactured which could be compared to a true product in terms of size and complexity. The participants have developed and verified their own technology solutions as evaluated by the manufactured test body.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
