Important results from the project
The projekt aimed to research and evaluate sensors for soil moisture that was feasable to massproduce at an electronic manufacturer. Two sensor principles was tried and found not in par with requirements, but a third one fulfilled all the requirements.
Expected long term effects
As one of the sensor principles fulfilled the requirements it will be tried in pilot trials the coming year.
Approach and implementation
Hiring a low cost consultant resulted in project delays and prototypes of sensors were finished when we hired an internal electronic designer. Soil has very complex properties regarding water transport and moisture. We were unable to find a lab that could help with the work packages specified at the end of the project but was helped by expertise in both Sweden and Norway on how to do these tests ourselves on relevant soil variants.
