Primary system for rotating torque

Reference number
Coordinator RISE Research Institutes of Sweden AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 1 510 000
Project duration January 2022 - May 2024
Status Completed

Important results from the project

The aim of the project was to design, build and evaluate a rig for testing and calibrating torque transducers during rotation and later also under dynamic conditions. The project has attracted the attention of leading manufacturers of measuring systems in the area, which has led to continued discussions about collaboration. Unfortunately, the project has not been able to meet the planned schedule and the objectives have not been fully met. However, the work will be completed by other means.

Expected long term effects

The project and its subsequent work are critical to enable and effectively implement a green transition. The work will contribute to better measurement technology and knowledge of dynamic effects on rotating machines, which enables more energy-efficient drive systems on e.g. electric vehicles, but also in other contexts where rotating machines are used, everything from generators to turbines.

Approach and implementation

During the course of the project, some unplanned things happened. Several components in the system had significantly longer delivery times than expected, which led to delays. The project has also been affected by an unexpectedly high staff turnover, which has also affected the schedule and costs. However, the system constructed will be more flexible than originally planned.
