Important results from the project
The project has aimed to strengthen metrology research in pressure and vacuum technologies within two areas; optical measurement of gas properties and shock tube as a reference for pressure. Most of the projects six main goals have been achieved and surpassed. Within the project we have developed a world leading position in the field. Furthermore, several upcoming projects have been made possible due to the work within this project, hence assuring continued work in the area.
Expected long term effects
The outcome of the project has been a significant contribution to the development of novel refractometer methods which have resulted in four scientific papers. Within the project a master thesis work have been supervised which has led to the possibility for us to offer external customer and partners quantitative analysis of pressure sensors. Besides the technical results, the project has led to several new research projects.
Approach and implementation
The project has been split into two main parts in order to achieve the goals. The part that have concerned shock tube measurements and investigation of prototype sensors have been carried out at the NMI in Borås by different project members and an master student. The second part concerning optical refractometer has been carried out in close collaboration with Umeå University in their optical laboratory facilities.
