Important results from the project
PrehospIT address prehospital semantic and technical interoperability. The project has met its goals and purposes - supported by technical/practical tests, full-scale simulations, documentation and information materials. Through a recommendation a way to achieve interoperability is shown, and care benefits and business impact are demonstrated, as well as the potential with video. Through various channels, prerequisites for distribution and dissemination of project results are met. However, missing today is a national party for the continuous management of the results.
Expected long term effects
The goal was a recommendation a direction and approach to gain increased care benefits through semantic and technical interoperability. In addition, show how video can support the care process, and suggest ways for implementation. PrehospIT has generated knowledge important for enhanced utilization of IT and stimulate growth within prehospital care. NEMSIS, Snomed CT, HL7 and IHE are suggested as basic components. PrehospIT has also shown the strength in simulation as a method to evaluate IT solutions. The video recommendation is the basis for a new VGR funded project ViPHS.
Approach and implementation
PrehospIT was implemented in four steps recommendation, technical/practical test, care benefits, and dissemination. The project was led by a project management group consisting of project and WP-leaders, who reported and synchronized their work with a steering group where all partners, including Vinnova, had a representative. The approach worked well since the project has achieved its targets as well as excellently managed a major correction of project approach. Due to time and cost reasons, simulations replaced tests in clinical operating environment.
