Important results from the project

A goal for the project has been to instigate discussion on sustainable consumption and climate transitions. What changes are we, ourselves, ready to make? What role can technical tools play in such transitions? What is the responsibility of the individual? We are pleased with attention from mainstream media, such as SVT and Sydsvenskan, resulting in prominent features. Besides the physical encounters with consumers in shopping malls these features have been incorporated in the prototype as important platforms for discussion.

Expected long term effects

Trough three prototypes “Preffi”, “Köppaus.se” and “Saying ‘Nej!’” the project has stimulated discussion around climate transition on both an individual and societal level. The discussions have taken place online and in shopping malls. Conversations have gravitated around individual responsibility, the agency of technology, and the privacy risks of increased monitoring of personal transactions. With a stronger presence of business owners in the project, the chances of sparking actual change would have been even greater.

Approach and implementation

The project was mainly accomplished according to plan. The extended work package (the “Saying ‘Nej!’” film) was only recently completed and has therefore not yet been deployed. We think that a public release of this film, connected to the website www.koppaus.se, may contribute to a renewed discussion of the project topics.
