Important results from the project
The purpose of the pre-study was to clarify concepts, identify needs, find out privacy issues and draw lessons from existing payment systems for telecommunications, internet services and railway transport. The overall objective of the pre-study was to improve the conditions for implementation of revenue management for electric road system, and to increase research and innovation capacity in Sweden and promote cross-sectoral collaboration between Swedish automotive, telecom industry and research institutes.
Expected long term effects
The pre-study has described actors and roles in road operation, transport of goods, public transport by bus and electric power supply. Lessons are taken from telecommunications, railway transport, kilometer tax, HCT etc. Privacy issues linked to electric road systems have been studied. An important part of this pre-study is a proposed solution for ERS revenue management developed with inspiration from business support systems from the telecom industry and with the idea that energy calculation shall be based on the distance reading of power meters or sensors in vehicles.
Approach and implementation
The project partners have individually and collectively worked with actors and needs analysis, lessons learned from existing systems, analysis of privacy issues, a proposed solution for revenue management, and conclusions. The project has been presented at a seminar for FFI Transport Efficiency 2014 and at the conference Transportforum 2015 during a session on electric road systems, on both occasions the audience showed great interest and asked several questions. Project partners and project supporters have conducted three joint meetings on project start, status and closure.
