Venture Research projects in interaction for system transformation
Call Research in interaction for transition to sustainable societies

Purpose and goal

The project will identify leverage points for transformative innovation policy and define policy interventions that can steer behaviour in firms towards sustainable business. To create a stronger understanding, the project team will develop a clear visualization and an accompanying narrative of today’s economic and financial system and how inherent logics of short-term profit drive unsustainable behaviour and lead to an escalating depletion of earth resources and a climate crisis.

Expected effects and result

The project will contribute to a more inclusive societal debate about the systemic and policy-related changes needed for humanity to continue prospering on planet Earth. Deliverables include: (1) a visualization and infographics of the economic system with a description of obstacles expressed at the company level, (2) a set of recommendations for transformative innovation policy, (3) communication including a popular report, a webinar, and a tailored event to engage decision-makers.

Planned approach and implementation

The project team will develop a model (visualisation) of the economic system which will be used to identify possible transformative solutions in interviews and workshops with stakeholders representing business, finance, policymakers, public sector, authorities and civil society. Iteratively, learnings gained from stakeholder sessions will be integrated into the model, which will ultimately visualize effective leverage points for transformative innovation policy and to illustrate policy effects.
