Important results from the project
The adjusted main goals of the project have been fulfilled. In spite of the unexpected and significant delay of the urban mobility theme to 2018, the consortium has maintained its overall structure and commitment to a future KIC has increased. A conference on the theme of European Urban Mobility has successfully been held, and a follow-up is planned for 2015. An ongoing collaboration with the city of Gothenburg´s European office in Brussels has been initiated. The consortium has prepared for a long-term planning and development phase up until 2018.
Expected long term effects
Thanks to recurring meetings and planning interactions, the project has led to all partners staying within the group, despite the postponement of the theme. The joint conference with SAGE has raised visibility and the profile of the group, which will in the future be enhanced with a clearer leading competence and knowledge base. It has also meant a greater degree of awareness of the consortium, which has led other, potentially competing or collaborating, mobility groups to be identified and contacted.
Approach and implementation
During the project, expectation management has been one of the primary project management challenges. After the sudden shift in themes in 2013, a workshop was very quickly held in Paris to inform core members of the change and to discuss a forward-looking agenda. After achieving consensus in the group about the continued sustainability of the KIC consortium, key factors have been a low-intensity momentum, and measurable short-term goals. The collaboration with the SAGE project has given the project additional concreteness and structure, and provided a useful rallying focus.
