Project duration April 2023 - September 2023
Status Completed

Important results from the project

In the preliminary study Modern Mines 2, conditions have been investigated for developing innovative learning environments at science centers about the mine´s role in green transition. Reasoning around societal benefit/needs and target group, inventory of research situation, technical tools/suppliers, economic reasoning and identification of collaboration opportunities have been carried out. Further preparatory work is needed before a concrete, costed proposal can be drawn up.

Expected long term effects

The result is a recommendation for a broadened perspective and to lift the green transition via electrification via three learning opportunities. Experience-focused through film, learning-focused for individual visitors, and dialogue-focused for individual groups and different groups together. The goal should be to provide scientifically based knowledge about electrification for a green transition and increased understanding of the complexity. The expected effect is that the report becomes a tool for continued development in partnership with businesses and civil society.

Approach and implementation

It was a challenge to carry out such a short project over months that also included vacation time, but the clear division of labor made it work. The work was more extensive than planned and resources outside the project budget have been used. But it also created a greater potential social benefit and for more actors than expected. Organization and planning were largely carried out, except that the planned workshop with industry representatives became redundant through a broader approach, more initial interviews and thus a wider direct anchoring.
